The McAlester Recycling Center is located at the Former National Guard Armory at 301 E. Polk Avenue in McAlester. Items accepted are glass, #1 & #2 plastic bottles, aluminum cans/foil, paper, phone books, magazines, newspaper, paperboard, and corrugated cardboard. There is a 24/7 drop off. It now takes cooking oil too! Bring the cooking oil in containers with lids. Place on the ground under sign.
Becoming environmentally aware and responsible is no longer an option, it is a necessity. Between 60 and 75% of all household synthetic waste can be usefully recycled, resulting in the preservation of natural resources and protection of the environment.
We hope everyone will take advantage of the recycling center. If we want to save our community from an environmental catastrophe, we must all act now and together.
If you have questions about recycling, please contact Keep McAlester Beautiful at kmb@keepmcalesterbeautiful.com.
